Alright, no excuses: CMW is officially in full swing, so it’s time to forget about being a responsible adult and dedicate your evenings to staying awake until all hours and spending too much money on cabs. (This goes for you, doers of work/laundry/sleeping last night.)

So in celebration of acquiring wristbands, passes, and tickets you didn’t think you could swing, let’s explore what Thursday has to offer and begin our quest in the east end. Starting at 9:30, The Opera House is where it’s at, especially if you’re into the likes of Isis (from Thunderheist), Cadence Weapon and Hollerado, and want to check out three genres of music in a less-than-three-hour timespan. And let’s not forget Land of Talk: Liz Powell and friends shut down the party at 12:30, officially making the trek to Queen East “worth it.”

But if the combination of indie rock, hip-hop and dance-pop isn’t your thing, fret not: Huron takes the stage at Sneaky Dee’s at 10:30, and The Darcys go on at the Silver Dollar at 11, only to be followed by the ever-so-poppy Russian Futurists. You can also head down the street for Amos the Transparent downstairs at El Mocambo at 11:30, and finish just in time to make it to The Horseshoe for Zeus at 12:20. (Tired yet? Too bad, keep reading.)

Maybe buzz-bands are your thing. And if so, you should probably line up at Wrongbar now to catch Little Girls at 11, METZ at 12 and the artist formerly known as Katie Stelmanis (Austra) at 1. Considering this is one of Austra’s first shows in Toronto as, well, Austra, you might even walk away with the power to say “I saw them when” before the four-piece inevitably explodes later this year.
