American actress and one half of duo She & Him, Zooey Deschanel is set to co-produce and star in a new HBO series based on the life of Pamela Des Barres, one of the most famous groupies from the ’70s who is said to have slept with Jim Morrison, Jimmy Page, Mick Jagger, Keith Moon and Don Johnson.
The show is being penned by Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under) and co-produced by Tim Gibbons (Curb Your Enthusiasm) as well as Des Barres and her former husband.
According to LA Weekly, the show is being called a “dramedy” and will chronicle the former groupie’s “lusty misadventures.” Apparently it will also feature cameos from some of the legendary musicians involved in the show’s plot.
Des Barres’ written account of her experience as a group can be found in her memoir I’m with the Band: Confessions of a Groupie.
