Watch Prince deliver relationship advice in 'New Girl'

While recently Prince has been making headlines for more serious matters (like slapping his Facebook fans with a $22 million lawsuit for sharing bootlegged video, then dropping it days later), the Purple blouse god also has a notable soft side. Take, for example, his recent foray onto Twitter, which included bizarre selfies. Or his goof-natured Dave Chappelle spoof. Or the fact that he’s a huge fan of Zooey Deschanel’s sitcom, New Girl, which, Prince says, is the only thing he watches outside of the news.

Prince loved New Girl so much, in fact, that he reached out to the show’s brass to see if he could make an appearance. And guy: No one says no to Prince.

“It’s safe to say that anyone who only goes by one name is going to be intimidating,” Deschanel told the Seattle Times prior to his appearance. “He’s a cultural icon.”

No duh. Anyhow, Prince’s cameo finally came to light yesterday, in the episode of the show that followed the Super Bowl. And it was incredible: With Nick and Jess going through relationship troubles, his Purpleness swoops in to deliver some sage words, give Jess a makeover, and even play a little ping pong.

At one point, Jess even says, ever poignantly, “I never thought I’d say this, but I need to be alone with Prince.” We never thought we’d hear the words, either. At the risk of being a huge spoiler, we’ll just let you watch the episode below.
