This morning's new music news; Gorillaz will release their new iPad-recorded album on Christmas Day, The Decemberists are thinking of recording a musical and Judas Priest will be doing a world tour for the last time next year.

Gorillaz will release a new album that will be available for download on Christmas Day. Recorded using an iPad over the course of their recent North American tour, the album is, according to lead vocalist Damon Albarn, “basically a tour diary as a record, I guess it’s my love letter to America.” [Gorillaz]

The Decemberists have been in talks with Michael Mayer, the man behind Green Day’s musical American Idiot, about possibly writing their own musical. “People are constantly asking me to write musicals – it’s the cross that I bear,” vocalist Colin Meloy told Billboard.

And Judas Priest have announced they will be embarking on a final world tour next year for fans to see them “rock the planet with all guns blazing and amps cranked to 11.” No North American tour dates have been announced yet. [Consequence of Sound]
