Gorillaz played the final scheduled gig of their Plastic Beach tour in Auckland, New Zealand last night and lead vocalist Damon Albarn revealed towards the show’s end that this might be the last time the collective of musicians that make up the band ever tour together, despite releasing a new album on Christmas day called The Fall.

“For us, this is the last time… you know, we all hope and pray on this stage that all the people who work with us that we will get a chance to work together as a collective again,” Albarn said. “We may never do that again, so for us tonight is a very charged moment.”

The Fall, recorded using an iPad while the band was touring North America this past fall, will be released as a free download on December 25. A physical release is due out sometime next year.

Watch fan-shot video footage of Albarn announcing to the crowd that this might in fact be the last Gorillaz show we ever see. He starts speaking at the 3:27 mark.
