Whilst hitting golf balls and go-karting San Diego’s As I Lay Dying recently chatted with AUX Weekly about their music videos and the steady stream of fans metal music has always had since the early beginnings.

“I think mainstream media in a way tries to suppress metal music a little bit,” member Phil Sgrosso said. “One of the cool things about it is that there is a passionate dedicated fan base of metal fans that just live for Metal.”

“There’s a certain aggressive sound to metal,” lead vocalist Tim Lambesis added. “Not everybody has the need for that type of outlet. Metal fans are so die hard because they all have a common thread, they’re drawn towards that very energetic and aggressive sound.”

The band are currently on a North American tour in support of their fifth studio album The Powerless Rise and even though they won’t be traveling to the far east coast of Canada, they want their fans to stay patient.

“In our outing if we’re trying to do everything in a circle it’s kind of off in the corner and we want to get there eventually,” Lambesis said. “We haven’t forgotten about you.”
