Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane has been released from jail after serving six months for parole violation stemming from an assault charge. The musician, whose real name is Radric Davis was freed this morning after being picked up by the fuzz just as his latest album “The State vs. Radric Davis” was released.

According to MTV, the rapper had a prepared statement for the press upon being released from the slammer. “I have made some mistakes in my life that have hurt a lot of people who care about me,” he said. “I have worked very hard to get past them, but those mistakes have brought me to where I am today, and they will not be repeated.” He added, “I want to continue on a positive track and truly focus on being a role model to my fans and my community. I am looking towards the future with a newfound respect and appreciation for the law and a strong dedication to my music and my career.”

Davis also said that he has launched a new record label called 1017 Brick Squad Records, in affiliation with Asylum/Warner Brothers Records and a new album entitled The Appeal is tentatively set for release this summer. He has also been booked to play several gigs this year including the Best of the Best Memorial Day weekend bash in Miami. [AP] [MTV]
