Bono Gets Emergency Back Surgery, Tour Dates In Jeopordy

U2’s Bono has undergone emergency spinal surgery after suffering an injury while preparing for the band’s upcoming tour. The 50-year-old was treated at a specialist neurosurgery clinic in Munich and will stay there for few days. A spokesman said he’ll then return to his home in Ireland to rest.

The band’s next scheduled tour date in Salt Lake City on June 3 has been postponed. Further notice about other canceled or postponed tour dates will be released at the appropriate time said a statement on the band’s website.

A total of 16 shows across North America have been planned before they head back to Europe in August. U2’s visits to Canada include stops in Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal [BBC]

June 23 – Commonwealth Stadium – Edmonton

July 3 – Rogers Centre – Toronto

July 16 – Montreal Hippodrome – Montreal

July 17 – Montreal Hippodrome – Montreal
