This morning's new music news; M.I.A. provides details of her new album via a blimp over Coachella, Phoenix will score the upcoming Coppola flick and Kylie Minogue is set to release her 11th studio album.

M.I.A. has provided details of the release date of her new album via a blimp traveling overhead during Jay-Z’s Coachella set this past weekend. The blimp had a digital billboard and said “New Album 6.29.10.” This is the follow up to 2007’s Kala. The blimp also provided info about the rapper’s performance at the HARD Music Festival in Los Angeles this summer. [RapUp]

Phoenix will score Sofia Coppola’s upcoming film “Somewhere” due out this fall. Coppola asked the band to write something similar to their track “Love Like a Sunset” off Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix for the new flick. In an interview with MTV bassist Deck D’Arcy said, “This is the first time we feel [that] the music fits to the picture. “We’ve [been on] many soundtracks before, and it’s always weird for us — producers must like [our songs], of course it if they use them — but for us, it’s always weird to see them in the films.” [MTV]

And Kylie Minogue will release her 11th studio album entitled Aphrodite on July 5. The disc’s first single “All the Lovers” will come out June 28. This is her first studio release since 2007’s X. [YouTube]
