Yesterday we honored the most legendary band managers to date. Today we look at another crop of legendary band managers, although not real, who hold a place in both our minds and hearts. They are the elite. The ones who won’t take “No” for an answer whether it involves money, popularity or good grades.

Max Haggar (It’s all gone Pete Tong)

Deaf DJ Frankie Wilde’s manager Max Haggar is a money grubbing businessman who uses Wilde’s disability to promote clothing, bobble head doll’s and energy drinks that Wilde himself calls “bad speed in a can.” Despite his ruthlessness, Haggar is very faithful and forgiving to his artists, even when Wilde admits shagging his wife Twila.

Murray Hewitt (Flight of the Conchords)

Deputy Cultural Attache at the New Zealand consulate by day and band manager, also by day as he fears for himself and his band going out at night, Murray Hewitt looks after Flight of the Conchords. He is unsuccessful at getting the band any gigs, but is consistent with taking roll call at each meeting.

Ian Faith (This Is Spinal Tap)

“Certainly, in the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful,” says Ian Faith, Tap manager during their 1982 U.S. tour. Faith faked his death in 1992 and made off to the Caymans with the Tap’s money.

Keith Horvak (Cock’d Gunns)

Keith Horvak coaches kids soccer and hockey and manages the band Cock’d Gunns, consisting of three wannabe musicians caught up in the rock n roll lifestyle and writing meaningful songs like one “about the whole 9/11/Hurricane Katrina Fiasco.”

Summer Hathaway (School of Rock)

When Dewey Finn (Jack Black) walks into his new job as a substitute teacher he immediately meets Summer Hathaway, the class factotum. Originally designated as a groupie for the band project, Summer’s determination springs into action as she threatens to tell her mom and becomes band manager. By the end of the movie, she is in charge of all of the bands moves and anyone she encounters.
