It's business time.

A kiss is not a contract, but we’re reasonably sure the Newport Folk Festival has gone through the proper paperwork to have Flight of the Conchords play their first U.S. show in three years. That’s right, Mels of the world. The much blabbed about return of FOTC will be a go this summer.

Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement can be found at the top of Friday’s bill for the Rhode Island festival’s 2016 engagement. Their appearance at the Newport Folk Festival will mark the first time since their 2013 jaunt as part of the Funny or Die Oddball Festival. Could the Conchords pop up elsewhere before this New England gig? Possibly, but the point is we now have confirmation that we’ll get to enjoy at least some business time with the fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo this year. Huzzah!

Who else is playing the Newport Folk Festival? (ARE YOU PLAYING THERE? Be sure to look this up before the day comes and a beardo yells at you about it over the phone.) Let’s see, there’s a Father John Misty solo set, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Raury, The Oh Hellos, and Ray LaMontagne among others with the promise of more acts to be announced. The important thing is the Flight of the Conchords side of the equation and since we’ve expressed that we can end this band (reunion) meeting.
