Meet the SXSW bloggers: Colin Medley

Favourite SXSW Moment: Last year was my first time going, but my highlight as far as shows that I saw was definitely Handsome Furs at the Sup Pop showcase. They’re second album Face Control had just come out and the band was at the top of their game. So sweaty, so drunk, so loud.

Best Public Toilet in Austin: Hmm, this is an interesting question, because I can’t seem to recall using the washroom at all the whole time I was there. That sounds gross, but maybe they just weren’t very memorable washrooms? I’ll investigate this matter further on this trip.

Weapon of Choice: Well, as a videographer, my camera is my most important tool, so I’ll have that one me at all times. I’m also bringing my 35mm camera, mostly for snapshots of my friends and stuff, more to show the ‘vacation’ side of SXSW. Earplugs are important, as is American money (ever tried showing a Texan a toonie? I haven’t, but I imagine it would be slightly confusing for them).
