This morning in new music news; Gaslight Anthem announce their follow up to The 59 Sound, Joan Baez has been added to the long list of performers set to play the White House and Frances Bean Cobain will make her debut along side Amanda Palmer.

Following the huge success of their sophomore album The 59 Sound, Gaslight Anthem will release their third album titled American Slang this June. The New Brunswick natives, the one south of the boarder, say this album will be a little different from their previous in terms of not relying heavily on their influences. Frontman Brian Fallon told NME “For the last record we looked really into it and we asked ‘What are our influences and how do we jam them in?.’ “And on this one, we’re writing songs that we feel are relevant to us.” [NME]

In what could be a rehash of a performance at the 1963 March on Washington, Joan Baez has been added to the list of performers at “In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement. Her and Dylan sang “The Times They Are A-Changin” and “When The Ship Comes In” together on the day Martin Luther King Jr. made his “I have a dream” speech. Baez also toured with Dylan in 1975 and again in 1984.  [Rolling Stone]

And Frances Bean Cobain is set to make her musical debut with the band Evelyn Evelyn, the side project of Dresdon Dolls members Amanda Palmer and bandmate Jason Webley. Frances will join several others including Tegan and Sara and Andrew W.K., on “gang vocals” for the track “My Space” off the self titled album due out on March 30. [Spin]
