This morning in music news; Gwen Stefani talks about the new 80's inspired No Doubt album, Peaches censored (shocking) and Courtney Love plays her first Hole gig in 11 years.

Currently at work on their forthcoming album, their first since 2001’s Rock Steady, No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani told Rolling Stone that the band is being influenced by lots of ’80s music. “The last few weeks we’ve been listening to the worst of the ’80s, in the sense of bad but good,” she said. “Pop songs, one-hit wonders, nifty songs, things like that. You just go back and find things that you love, and try to figure out how they made them.” Although the process has been slow due to Stefani’s other music and family commitments, the as-yet-untitled album is due out sometime this year. In a statement via her Twitter account, “PEACHES CHRIST SUPERSTAR CRUCIFIED BEFORE OPENING NIGHT!” The singer was set for a solo performance of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Jesus Christ Superstar in Berlin, but the German people in charge thought twice about it and pulled the plug. Peaches also added, “It’s a shame that the authorities feel threatened by this new fresh approach. I know a lot of people who really love the music and would appreciate this stripped down down solo performance. I have so much respect for the music and lyrics from the original score and this was my way of honoring that.” [Pitchfork]

And last night Courtney Love played her first Hole gig in 11 years during the Shockwaves NME Awards at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. The band played several Hole staples as well as new songs from the upcoming album Nobody’s Daughter. [NME]
