Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger to undergo vocal cord surgery

If you were looking forward to getting your ya-ya’s off this summer to some live music from Hanna, Alberta’s favourite sons, we’ve got some bad news for you. Generic rock juggernauts Nickelback have been forced to cancel the remainder of their North American “No Fixed Address” tour due to the discovery of a cyst on singer Chad Kroeger’s voice box. He’s set to undergo surgery in three weeks, and as per usual with these procedures will require weeks of vocal rest. The band foresees being able to return for their September 30 European run, but fans on this continent are plum out of luck.

You’d like to hope in these kind of situations folks would turn down the snark – but then that wouldn’t be the Internet. Not even giving Kroeger a second to gargle some Listerine, the band’s haters are already having a tactless field day with comments including “There is a God,” “North America, you lucky bastards,” and “they should give the cyst a Grammy.” Not to mention some truly dark suggestions of bribing the surgeon to have an “accident.”

C’mon, guys. Be cool. Chad’s got feelings too – haven’t you heard “Photograph”?
