Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger announce separation

After two years of marriage (inspiring at least one elaborate hoax), Avril Lavigne and Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger have announced their separation via Instagram. A pic of their wedding day (shown below) was accompanied by the following heartfelt message:

It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today. Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we’ve created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.

Lavigne and Kroeger shot down earlier divorce rumours last November. Punchline alert: Now, “Let Me Go” has taken on a whole new meaning.

Now we’ll never get to know if our 2012 prediction of what their child will look like will come true.
