Broken Social Scene To Release Bonus EP

April 20, 2010
Yesterday Broken Social Scene’s forthcoming album Forgiveness Rock Record was made available to listen to in its entirety on NPR. Today, more news, as a bonus EP called Lo-Fi For The Dividing Nights will be included free for all pre-orders of Forgiveness Rock Record. The EP will also been given to those who purchase the CD or Vinyl at HMV in Canada and any independent record store in the U.S. when the album is released on May 4. UPDATE: 4/20 7pm: According to Arts & Crafts the EP will also be available in select independent Canadian retailers.
The EP itself was written during the recording of the album in Chicago. Members would head into Soma’s second studio when they had time off to test new ideas and eventually recorded little soundscapes. One of these recordings, “Me & My Hand,” was included as the closing song on Forgiveness Rock Record. From the sound of this lovely little number, the recordings included on the EP might outshine the album.
The band will kick off a tour at the start of next month in San Francisco, which will take them to several festivals including All Tomorrow’s Parties, Sasquatch, Toronto Island, Glastonbury, Oxegen and Pitchfork.
