Listen to his first new song with From First to Last in 10 years.

It’s not every angsty, early-00s post-hardcore/emo band whose singer leaves to become a massively successful EDM artist, but that’s the situation that From First To Last found themselves in when their singer, Sonny Moore, departed the band.

Skrillex originally joined the band back in 2004, releasing two albums with the group and touring nonstop before departing to focus on his burgeoning electronic music career… which, as we all know at this point, became something of a phenomenon and flashpoint for the North American style of bombastic, over-the-top dubstep, to the point that the word “Skrillex” became pretty much synonymous with the genre in many nascent EDM fans’ minds.

That’s not to say that the other members of From First To Last haven’t been releasing new music after Skrillex’s departure, but “Make War” marks the first full reunion from the group, with Skrillex singing on, co-writing, and helping to produce the track. It hasn’t yet been made clear whether this is one-off or a sign of a full album to come, but for now, just take a listen:

“Hate comes easy but with you I come hard / Happy anniversary from the bottom of my credit card.”

Hm, with lyrical masterworks like that, I think I see why Skrillex decided to focus on instrumental electronic production. Also, I get that a long-overdue reunion is probably a hectic, emotional time, but that’s no excuse for cribbing your artwork from another band:
