Toronto punks Deforesters are gearing up to release their much anticipated first album next month. Here's your first taste.

For the last few years, Deforesters have been Toronto punk rock’s best kept secret. But next month, that will certainly change.

Featuring members past and present from PUP, the Roman Line and Plan37, they’ve been show-stealing across stages and leaving new fans desperate for an album. And now, after two EPs (1, 2), we’re finally about to get one. On February 25th, they’ll release Leonard, and today, we’re excited to give you your first taste of the album.

“What Do You Want On Your Tombstone” pairs its hook-laden harmonies with an uncanny sense of dread, like the two day hangover you get when you realize that you can’t drink like you used to. It burns slow, but never cold, and has the kind of incisive lyrics that’ll have you looping it over and over.

Suffice to say, secret’s out.

Leonard was recorded at Drive Studios with Steve Rizun (Flatliners, Junior Battles). It’s out February 24th via Black Numbers. They’re celebrating it with a release show February 25th at the Bovine in Toronto. Be there, it’ll be a time.
