Lust for still life.

Typically, most renaissance men don’t title their memoirs “Total Chaos” , have a motorcycle on their rider, or collaborate with Ke$ha, but Iggy Pop isn’t most renaissance men. Now, he’s branching out into one of the most erudite art forms of all: nude figure drawing. As a model, that is. A wrinkly, wrinkly model.

Recently, Iggy surprised a drawing class at the New York Academy of Art by 1) showing up and 2) stripping down to let the students take in his nude glory, all for their artistic development. Student entering class: “Hm, guess we’re drawing a brown leather jacket still life today”.

Now, the dangling fruits of that day are getting their own exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. From November 4th through to March 26th of next year, interested parties can attend Iggy Pop Life Class to catch some glimpses of Iggy Pop au naturel from 21 different artists. In case you can’t make the exhibit, don’t worry, you’ll still be able to marvel at the wild child: the drawings will also be coming to coffee tables everywhere on October 20th, as a book under the same name.

“It wasn’t about my winkie, or anything. It was just a documentation of what’s left of me. It’s not the sort of thing I’m going to start doing as a weekend job. I did it once at the start of my career, I was photographed also without clothes by Bill King and Gerard Malanga from the Warhol Factory, so it was time,” Pop said of his decision to nude model. Sure, he says he’s not going to keep doing it now, but give him a couple of weeks.

Check out some of the drawings here.
