Professor X mutates into strange new country-fried singing powers.

Fresh off playing a fastidious Neo-Nazi in Green Room, starring on Starz’ Blunt Talk, and on his way to reprising his role as Professor X in next year’s Wolverine, Sir Patrick Stewart is obviously a busy man. Not so busy, though, that he can’t turn his considerable talents to a brand new arena rodeo for a good cause. I could explain, but… just watch this:

As magical as it is, don’t be fooled by the informercial’s production values and Sir Stewart’s rich tenor on these cowpoke classics: clicking through to the P-Stew Sings website reveals the albums like Songs for Lonesome Lovers and Cowboy Pat’s Christmas on the Range are ‘completely sold out.’ Never fear though: you can download a 5-song sampler for $10.00 USD, the proceeds of which go directly to the International Rescue Committee.

For those patriotic Americans (and Albertans) who wish Stewart’s foray into the lonesome twangy west was for real, don’t worry: there’s still Riff Raff’s new band to look forward to, which ought to be almost as entertaining.
