Watch Degrassi-era Drake do comedy that would have got him swirlied.

Serving as the original staging ground for the Kids In The Hall, Toronto’s Rivoli Theatre is uniquely important to Canadian comedy and has hosted a multitude of famous comic performers since opening in 1982.

One such performer, at the time a little-known improv hopeful on the cusp of TV stardom, has since gone on to a successful career in both music and real estate speculation. Yep, you guessed it: Howie Mandel Drake!

The clip below, linked from a CBC feature about the venue’s revitalization, shows a young Aubrey Graham gamely showing off his comedic chops by acting nervous, singing an off-the-cuff country song, and genuinely being the stereotypical improv goober we all remember being and getting swirlied as (or giving swirlies to) during our high school careers.

It’s unclear from what Drake era this clip comes from, pre or during the Degrassi age, but our top researchers can confirm it definitely predates Nothing Was The Same.

In case that’s not enough Cancon Drake/comedy crossover for you, this ought to do it. Sorry if that still doesn’t sate your Drake comedy needs, I’m sure the Bob and Doug McKenzie feature on the Views followup will be dope.
