'Tim Sings! The Hits!' features 44 pop songs recorded in a single live take.

Pop has been blessed with a beautiful new voice in 2015. Toronto comedian (and we imagine he does other things as well) Tim Gilbert has bestowed a musical tour-de-force upon the globe in the form of Tim Sings! The Hits!, a 44-song offering that will earn your undying loyalty or have you hucking your laptop through the wall. We’re in Camp A.

The gimmick of Tim Sings! The Hits! is that our hero has rolled through massive pop hits from the likes of Rihanna, Carly Rae Jepsen, and INXS and served them up in his unique vocal stylings. Just like all your favourite chart-topping recording artists, these hits were churned out in a single live take.

It’s tough to peg exactly what Tim sounds like, but a stuffed animal that’s “seen some things” is probably fair. To put it kindly, Gilbert is no Gino Vannelli in the vocals department, but he doesn’t have to be. Tim is his own beautiful musical creature and we’re all the better for it.

Tim Sings! The Hits! is currently available for free download on Bandcamp, which opens the door for you to give it as a CD-R to your family as a gift over the holidays. In our eyes, Tim’s version of “We Found Love” is the definitive one from here on out.
