RATM return with a countdown clock, cryptic posters, and hints from Public Enemy.

“Clear the way for the Prophets of Rage. The party’s over summer 2016.”

That’s the cryptic message Rage Against The Machine fans are receiving if they sign up for the email newsletter on the band’s newly launched website prophetsofrage.com (which is currently seems to be down due to a surge of traffic). If you were able to see it, you may be currently thrilling over a countdown clock teasing the announcement of something big on June 1.

Posters featuring the website’s artwork and URL have also been spotted around Los Angeles, causing speculation that the political rap-rockers are planning to return for their first live appearances since 2011. The website also features the hashtag #TakeThePowerBack, referencing the RATM song from their 1992 self-titled album.

Spotters have pointed out that “Prophets of Rage” is also the name of a Public Enemy song (and an accompanying BBC documentary). Adding fuel to the fire, Chuck D has been posting RATM live performances on Twitter, leading some fans to guess that the pair of political firebrands may be hitting the stage together.

RATM frontman Zack de la Rocha has recently teamed up with the likeminded Run the Jewels on their charmingly titled tune “Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck).” Watch them hit the stage together below and imagine what might come to be soon.
