Dying Fetus fans pride themselves on the band’s unflinching brutality, but when it comes to acts of metal, the band’s latest stunt puts anything they’ve released to shame.

Before their May 3rd gig in Chicago, the band posted about a fan who had recently died and expressed his wishes to have his ashes scattered on stage at one of their shows. Dying Fetus asked their fans if they should do it.

The response, natch, was a resounding yes, and later that night they shared the good news:

Not only does this give new meaning to the sentiment that metal mosh pits often smell like a dead body, but it gives credence to the ongoing thought that deep down inside, metal dudes secretly have hearts of gold.
