The songs of Abhorrent Decimation were accidentally credited to the ostrich-riding Bernie Clifton.

UK comic Bernie Clifton, best known in his native land for riding a fake yellow ostrich around while people with elaborate hats look on perplexedly, has just put out a new album. “Hell yeah! Love me some Clif!” – everyone reading this, presumably.

Anyway, the new release features such uproarious Clifton standbys as “…For The Desperately Lost”, “The Icon of Loss”, and “Eternal Repulsion”. Sounds hilarious! Oh wait: there was an error at the printers and death metal band Abhorrent Decimation‘s tracklist was erroneously appended to Clifton’s album art.

Clifton decided to release an album of musical covers after a well-received performance on the UK version of The Voice, which saw the comedian do a heart-wrenching version of “The Impossible Dream” from Man of La Mancha. Of course, this being The Voice, judges wisely declined to press the big red button, as they sensed the 79-year-old’s, uh, decrepitude lack of financial viability. However, buoyed by the positive public response, Clifton decided to record an entire album of covers dedicated to his late wife, and sell it to his adoring, ostrich-loving public online.

That was the plan, anyway. When Clifton got copies of the album back from the printers, he noticed that the tracklisting for death metal group Abhorrent Decimation’s album Miasmic Mutation was printed in place of his own. The mistake was presumably due to the similarities of the two artists’ catalogue numbers.

Clifton told the BBC he was “fuming and furious” about the mix-up but that maybe “we could go on the road, me and the lads. We could do To Dream the Impossible Miasmic Mutation.”

For their part, Abhorrent Decimation is also open to some kind of collaboration, with singer Ashley Scott saying “I definitely want to talk to Bernie about working together on something… it would be amazing.” You could start by abhorrently decimating that freaking ostrich.
