20 years too late, Boyzone and Westlife come together as Boyzlife.

There’s no definitive apocalypse legend in Celtic mythology (the Cath Maige Tuired is as close as it comes), but as far as portents of the end times go, you could do a lot worse than two of Ireland’s biggest boy bands from the ’90s transforming into one nine-man supergroup.

Just in case you weren’t a teenage girl/budding poptimist in the ’90s and early ’00s, Boyzone and Westlife were two of Ireland’s biggest exports. Who could forget Westlife’s lone U.S. hit “Swear It Again”, or Boyzone’s hot air balloon safety video for “No Matter What”? Both groups were managed and created by former X Factor judge and human incarnation of Lugh, Louis Walsh.

Now, it looks like all Life/Zone fans might have new reason to rejoice: According to Westlife singer Brian McFadden, he and Westlife’s Keith Duffy are attempting to enlist all of their former bandmates in a new touring supergroup. Hmmm, that might be hard in Boyzone’s case.

“Nine of us Irish lads on a tour bus together, going round the world together. It would be absolute carnage. We all get on so well so you never know. We would have so much fun on tour,” the 35-year-old, possibly mid-life crisis-embroiled McFadden told The Sun about the proposed supergroup, which is of course named Boyzlife. Well, beats LifeBoys, anyway.

As of right now, the only Boyz living the life are McFadden and Duffy. “We could end up adding more people to the next one. Right now this is about me and Keith but the door is always open,” McFadden said of the Boyzlife project.

The two have committed to a 12-date UK tour that will kick off later this year, and see the two singers perform their respective groups’ biggest high school dance anthems and “captivating tales of the highs and lows” of life in a successful boy band, as per the duo’s website.

What are you waiting for? Who wouldn’t want to relive their awkward high school moments of getting turned down by Jenny Westerbrook to the soothing strains of “If I Let You Go”?
