Don Cheadle directs and stars as jazz legend Miles Davis.

Drop what you’re doing and get up with it! The trailer for Miles Ahead has arrived.

Along with their premiere of the promo clip below, Entertainment Weekly explains that actor and first-time director Don Cheadle has been working on this project since 2006. The film on the life of jazz legend Miles Davis has been making the rounds of the festival circuit, and will finally hit theatres for a wider release on April 1.

Sony Pictures acquired the film despite someone at the company making a major goof by identifying the trumpet player as an “iconic singer.” Oops!

Despite this misstep, they’re rolling out the flick in style with an attention-grabbing trailer depicting Davis as the raspy-voiced iconoclast. Ewan McGregor co-stars as a pesky Rolling Stone journalist while Emayatzy Corinealdi plays dancer and Davis’s future wife Frances Taylor. According to Cheadle, the biopic does not shy away from the musician’s darker history of domestic violence.
