Destination unknown...
“Stay back! The boy’s a time bomb!” – Tim Armstrong to Mulder and Scully, presumably about some kind of alien or about-to-explode mutant creature.
According to IMDB, Rancid founder/favoured Pink collaborator Tim Armstrong will appear in the new X-Files series’ fourth episode. Entitled “Home Again”, the episode will air on February 8th, and Armstrong will be playing a character known as “Trashman.” Hmmm, perhaps not exactly the most tone-appropriate character name for a guy who was once homeless.
The rebooted X-Files hasn’t exactly been joyously received, but maybe a cameo from punk’s raspiest-voiced singer and guitarist will go a long way towards getting all the old fan-factions back on board, even ancestral enemies like Mulder-and-Scully shippers and Skinner-and-Mulder shippers. What? You think there’s no significant crossover in X-Files/Rancid fans? Clearly, you did not attend high school in the late ’90s in suburban Ontario.
Going by the title, the episode might be a sequel of sorts to the infamous 1996 episode about a murderous family of inbred mutants, “Home” (incidentally the only episode of the series to every carry a TV-MA rating in the U.S.) Let’s hope we all get to witness the magical sight of Trashman joining the Peacock clan on February 8.
