It's called Creedbombing and it's even funnier than it sounds. And it sounds like Creed, so that's saying something.

The Carolina Panthers are on an historic run in the NFL, finishing the year at 15-1 and drawing controversies from scared white people for the funniest of reasons. When Cam Newton dances, smiles and celebrates, he’s written letters from parents decrying his “lack of sportsmanship.” It’s hilarious. And in a roundabout way, it explains their success.

As a team that seems to genuinely love playing together, the Panthers have translated that chemistry into borderline league dominance. But their latest bit of bonding has gone to fantastic new heights: Creedbombing.

It’s even better than it sounds. Though, to be fair, it sounds like Creed.

Linebacker Ben Jacobs has apparently been belting out donkey rock classics in the locker room, staring deeply into his teammates’ eyes while singing songs like “One Last Breath”, “With Arms Wide Open” and “Higher”, ‘natch.

“The key is you’ve got to make really deep, direct eye contact,” Jacobs said to the Charlotte Observer.

“We were laughing with the raspy voices and how much we still kind of liked the songs. It just started turning into singing it randomly, you don’t even think about it. It’s taken on a life of its own.”

Coming off a huge victory against the streaking Seattle Seahawks, Creedbombing seems to be working. Is it fair to call it the key to their successes? Probably.

And it’s all in good fun. While surely mocking the band on a base level, even singer Scott Stapp, who hasn’t had the easiest couple of years, has laughed at it.
