'Blackstar' is destined for uncharted territory.

David Bowie’s parting gift to fans is being snatched up with enthusiasm. The mega-talented multihyphenate’s final album ★ (Blackstar) is on track to hit #1 on the Billboard 200 and knock Adele from her seven-week stay at the chart’s top spot.

Projected to rack up over 100k in sales, industry forecasters see ★ as the leading candidate to grab peak position on the latest album chart. As ridiculous as it sounds, this would be Bowie’s first ever #1 full-length in the United States. He’s had close calls in America before with records like Station to Station (peaked at #3), Let’s Dance (topped out at #4) and The Next Day (a near miss at #2), but ★ appears to be destined for uncharted territory.

Bowie’s not just in the spotlight on the charts, either. Next month’s Brit Awards will come equipped with a tribute to the Thin White Duke and SiriusXM chose to pay their respects by bringing back a Bowie-focused radio station. We imagine the Grammys will also have something in store to celebrate the life of the music legend.

Did we mention that the Cincinnati Zoo has given their first baby animal of 2016 the name Bowie? Well, they did and the christening actually came before the rock icon passed away. The name was selected because the pair share a birthday.
