It's a hip-hop holy war between two would-be rap saviours.

If you’re still searching for a hip-hop moniker, why not borrow one from the historical hustler with the heart of gold and greatest personal brand of all time, the Son of Man? Be careful though, you’ll have to prove you’re worthy of the name, as 18-year-old Ohio rapper Slim Jesus can testify.

Slim Jesus was performing his signature brand of Chief Keef worship in Ottawa when another rapper, named Black Jesus, snatched the mic from his hand and implored Slim/the crowd to “support real hip-hop, bitch.” Strangely enough, Slim Jesus was confronted a few months back by a different rapper named Black Jesus, who accosted him outside an Atlanta club and demanded he “build his own hype.” You’ve got to wonder what you’re doing wrong if two different Black Jesuses take issue with your music.

Things might not be what they seem, however: Footage of the incident immediately popped up in a Black Jesus music video posted yesterday, which begs the question: Was the whole thing planned? Was Slim Jesus in on it? Was this just a planned fuel injection for the good ship Worldstar? If so, that’s quite the favour for a friend, letting yourself look like a chump for the good of another rapper, but Big J was nothing if not generous with his brand.

Slim Jesus first came to public attention with his controversial viral video for “Drill Time”, which came out back in August, and which sadly doesn’t feature any cameos from Al Borland. It’s also notable for featuring the least alarming threats since Dad threatened to turn the car around if we weren’t quiet, despite us already being on day five of the road trip. After the success of “Drill Time”, Slim Jesus drew fire from all corners of the hip-hop world, mostly for inducing near-lethal levels of cognitive dissonance for being a sheltered white surbanite performing Chicago drill music.

Anyway, despite his authenticity issues, Slim Jesus’ star [of Bethlehem] is rising, with apparent label interest from Birdman’s Cash Money and a possibly facetious Puffy. It remains to be seen whether the mic-snatching of Black Jesus will lead to the end times, as foretold in Revelations.
