She also says Slayer's new music is "eh."

Slayer screamer/bassist Tom Araya has raised a family that pulls no punches, and that’s not just a reference to their brown belts. A few years back, a photo of Araya’s daughter Ariel reacting with embarrassment to her dad’s red carpet mugging made the rounds with captions like “You could be in Slayer and your teenage daughter will still think you’re lame.”

She previously responded to the metal meme with some sassy comments on Facebook, and has now taken to Reddit to defend her facial expression, her dad, and share some honest opinions on the band’s music:

I was 11 at the time when this picture was taken. Having flash bulbs in your face and 30+ people yelling “LOOK AT ME” can be a little intimidating. I love the old Slayer. Some of the newer stuff is eh. My dad misses being home. He isn’t lame. He’s been the best dad he can be with our circumstances. Any questions?

Ariel then included some photo/social media proof before clarifying why she prefers their earlier releases:

Don’t get me wrong the new stuff is still good music I just prefer the older stuff. You can hear the bass in it compared to now.

From there, the Reddit thread became a spontaneous AMA where Ariel revealed a few more musical facts:

– Her fave Slayer album is 1990’s Seasons in the Abyss.

– She calls herself a “mild metal head.”

– Pantera, old school Metallica “before they sold out”, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and pop-punk bands like Real Friends and The Wonder Years are “just a little taste of what I jam.”
