Shane MacGowan's teeth get their own documentary

“You know what I could really go for? A in-depth documentary about the ongoing dental work of an aging rock star!” – something we’ve all definitely said to ourselves at one point or another while trapped in the Netflix death spiral.

Well, soon that documentary won’t just be the insane fever dream of chronically (and chronic-smoking) indecisive streaming media viewers – a new hour-long documentary, entitled Shane MacGowan: A Wreck Reborn, will feature the Pogues vocalist in exclusive dentist chair footage as he gets his famously imperfect teeth repaired. Yes, this is happening. The only disappointment is that they didn’t call it Fairytale of New Bridgework.

MacGowan traded his classic, off-kilter toothy grin for dentures in 2009, but soon stopped wearing them, claiming they made him look like “a dickhead.” MacGowan was inspired to get his chompers refurbished after seeing, and being impressed by, the work done on his girlfriend Victoria Clarke’s teeth. A Wreck Reborn will air next month on UK channel Sky Arts, and will feature interviews with Johnny Depp and Libertines frontman Pete Doherty, definitely a man who must have had his own dental problems, what with all that brown sugar.
