Missy Elliott's glass outfit in her new video left her cut up and bloody

It’s nice to have Missy Elliott back, isn’t it? Even when she’s in our lives for a short spell (see: Katy Perry inviting her over for some Super Bowl halftime fun), the world is an infinitely better place. The one tricky spot? Her amazing “WTF (Where They From)” video was actually quite hazardous to our hip-hop heroine’s health.

In an interview with i-D, Missy revealed that the awesome looking glass outfit from the new video didn’t exactly feel all that awesome to wear. Blood was spilled to bring that look to life.

“We collectively knew it had to have some kind of iconic outfit,” she explained. “We all came up with the glass outfit, which was the hardest thing to wear because it was really cut up glass so I was bleeding and everything! (laughs) I was so agitated but I had to get it done.”

Now we’re starting to worry that she used real bees in the video for “Work It.”
