The Beatles: Still well liked.

Billboard recently posted a “25 Greatest Pop Hooks of All Time” countdown, and a little known British band called The Beatles topped that list with their smash “I Want To Hold Your Hand.” It’s one of two Fab Four offerings to make the Top 25 with “She Loves You” clocking in at #6.

“Out of all the legendary tunes the group released over the following years, none came close to the sheer wonder of the “I Want to Hold Your Hand” hook, which towers above the other hooks on this list and over popular music in general,” gushes Billboard‘s blurb for the track.

Michael Jackson appears twice in the Top 5. “Beat It” earned the silver medal slot and the Jackson 5 classic “ABC” arrives in fourth place. Elsewhere in the Top 5, ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” checks in at the #3 position and “Stop! In the Name of Love” by The Supremes lands in the fifth spot. Carly Rae Jepsen provided the only dash of Canadian content in Billboard’s “25 Greatest Pop Hooks of All Time” listravaganza. “Call Me Maybe” earwormed its way to #21.
