The band feels he has left them behind by focusing on his solo country career.

Steven Tyler’s country-fried solo aspirations have been the source of speculation, appreciation, and some light-hearted jokes in recent months. However, it turns out they’ve also caused his fellow members of Aerosmith to feel left behind.

The band were originally scheduled to tour in early 2016, but it now seems that Tyler’s solo plans have placed Aerosmith on the back burner. In a salty interview with Billboard, guitarist Brad Whitford shared his gripes in a manner reminiscent of Metallica’s touchy feely documentary Some Kind of Monster.

“Steven doesn’t want to do it. It’s unfortunate. We kind of feel a little bit abandoned by him. I guess he seems to think his solo career is going to go great guns, and he doesn’t seem to realize that — in my opinion — his fans around the globe want to see him in the context of Aerosmith and don’t really care for whatever he thinks he’s gonna do. I don’t know if he gets that but, hey, that’s what he wants to do. I can’t put a gun to his head. It’s just pretty disappointing.”

If this very public in-fighting causes you to break out the Michael Jackson popcorn gif, you should know both sides of the story. While Tyler has been busy recording his country album in Nashville, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry is also working on a solo record of his own. Meanwhile, Whitford has been collaborating with ex-Ted Nugent vocalist Derek St. Holmes on their cleverly named Whitford St. Holmes side-project.

Lastly, if you need any more reasons to side with Steven Tyler, the singer recently launched Janie’s Fund, a new initiative to raise money and awareness for young women who have endured neglect and abuse.
