GnFnR thank the Aerosmith singer for his "non-existent role."

Along with all the excitement surrounding Guns N’ Roses’ long-awaited reunion, there’s been concern about whether the band (read: Axl Rose) will be able to pull off a performance matching his days of yore.

Well, we recently got a promising sign in regards to the band’s feistiness – it seems they can still talk shit with the best of them. Now armed with the magic of Twitter, GnR used the platform to level some finely honed snark at those who have been taking credit for the band’s reunion.

Turns out the most high-profile of these is Aerosmith frontman/country music star hopeful/street performer squawker-atter Steven Tyler.

In what was surely one of the most obnoxious broadcasts of all time, Tyler appeared on The Howard Stern show on January 27th. When asked by Stern what his opinion was of the GnR reunion, Tyler went full megalomaniac and shared his opinion that he was at least partly responsible for the group getting back together:

“I’m sure I’m not solely [responsible], but I did meet Axl in a couple of clubs a year ago and two years ago and three years ago,” he said. “I bumped into him, and I had that talk… I said, ‘You need to get fucking back together again soon, because we all miss you.’ So I’d say to Axl, ‘You’ve gotta get together. There’s a place and time where if you don’t, you’re gonna miss it.’ And in another four or five years, no one’s gonna even know who they were or care if they’re on tour, and that’s Steven Tyler’s opinion.”

Perhaps as much for the douchiness of referring to himself in the third person as the claim that his passing interactions with Axl had anything to do with their decision to reunite, the band tweeted the following deliciously sarcastic message later that night:

Wisely, it seems Tyler decided to let that one go. Yet this seems likely to be the first of many 2016 GnR beefs, and we can all look forward to an Axl/Bieber backstage scuffle at Bonnaroo.
