Hell hath no fury like an Oprah smackdown.

Maybe it’s due to the extra weight of about 2.9 billion dollars, or perhaps it’s because it’s often delivered in a manner that reminds you that regardless of all the success she’s still a badass from rural Mississippi that will hand you your ass if you don’t act right. Unfortunately for him (but entertaining for us), T.I. didn’t act right at all.

In the latest flare-up of the foot-in-mouth disease he’s been battling since time immemorial, T.I. shared his thoughts on the upcoming presidential election. You might want to sit down for this one – even for T.I., it’s  some next level ish:

“Not to be sexist but I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman. Just because, every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well. But the president? It’s kinda like, I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally – they make very permanent, cemented decisions – and then later, it’s kind of like it didn’t happen, or they didn’t mean for it to happen. And I sure would hate to just set off a nuke. [Other leaders] will not be able to negotiate the right kinds of foreign policy; the world ain’t ready yet. I think you might be able to the Loch Ness Monster elected before you could [get a woman].”

Yes, you read that right. He actually busted out the ‘edgy’ 1980s comedian staple of “a woman president could freak out and set off a nuke at any time.” Unsurprisingly, the world at large has torn him a new one for his comments, but one of the most entertaining reactions caught on tape was that of Oprah Winfrey’s when a TMZ reporter tattled on T.I.

Her initial reaction was understandably shocked, insisting “Nobody said that, in this day and age.” When assured that those were indeed Tip’s words, Oprah calmly continued (without breaking from autograph signings: “”Well, you know what I say to that… I want to say, ‘Honey child, hush your mouth. You don’t know what you’re talking about.’” She did allude to her suspicion T.I. was doing it for the publicity, adding “I don’t buy it, you know, it’s not true. I think people just like to talk.”

Well, if that was his plan, it seems the backlash has made the rapper think twice. After apologizing in a tweet, T.I. has also posted a Facebook video begging the world’s forgiveness. Saying DJ Whoo Kid’s radio show where he made the comments is a place for “outrageous things,” he added: “This time I reached for a joke that was in very poor taste using a stereotype associated to women that I should not have done. That is not a reflection of how I feel.”

We’re waiting for the transcript of his phone call with Clinton where he pledges to write her a trap hit called “Hilary for Prez.”
