She joined the Christian rap-metal band in 2006.

Katy Perry has already been outed as a Warped Tour stage diving veteran with fan footage of her leaping into the crowd during Relient K’s cover of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” That sentence might have made more sense back in the mid-aughts. Metal Sucks (with a nod to music writers Maria Sherman and Adrian Begrand) made the revelation that Perry (then known as Katy Hudson) backed up P.O.D. for their 2006 single “Goodbye for Now.” Watch her perform it with the band on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show and join the dreadlocked rap-rockers in their music video below:

Two years before she kissed a girl and four years before she kissed Russell Brand, Katy Perry kissed the world of Christian rap-metal.
