More action like this, please.

This week in internet garbage: A group of trolls called Whirr (whose genre has been accurately described as “malegaze”, and sorry, we’re not going to give them a link) decided to post some tasteless jokes about G.L.O.S.S. (a.k.a. Girls Living Outside Society’s Shit, a.k.a. the awesome Olympia punk band cranking out incredibly vital transgender anthems). Here’s the series of now deleted tweets:

And the final “edgy” joke of comparing the band to Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs (NSFWish).

Then – surprise! Members of the music community weren’t happy and responded in kind.

Then – the singer of G.L.O.S.S. joined Twitter to send some well-aimed digs back at Whirr.

Yet the most important action came from Run for Cover Records, who previously released two splits and an EP for Whirr, but aren’t going to side with them anymore.

So far Graveface Records, who released Whirr’s last LP, are yet to comment. However, responses continue to roll in including a rallying cry from Toronto’s DIY hardcore punk festival Not Dead Yet, which starts this week.

UPDATE: Whirr guitarist Nick Bassett has posted a not really all that apologetic statement claiming that a friend of the band has been running their twitter account. Sigh.
