Run for Cover Records is donating 100% of its Bandcamp sales to Planned Parenthood and matching everything up to $5000.

A rare comfort amidst this week’s atrocious events (which have now seen fit to take fucking Leonard Cohen from us) can be found in an inspiring and essential step towards solidarity and support taken by Boston’s Run For Cover Records.

The Massachusetts-based record label announced yesterday that their entire Bandcamp catalog has been temporarily turned into a “pay what you want” fundraiser for Planned Parenthood, a crucial non-profit organization in the U.S. that provides contraceptives and support services to millions of Americans. The announcement comes as worries mount that Planned Parenthood’s accessible and affordable services will be axed under the racist-sexual predator-turned-President-elect, a fear Obama moved to relieve in the wake of the Trumpocalypse.

The label, which features Modern Baseball, Pinegrove, and Turnover, announced the initiative yesterday on Facebook, saying releases would be “pay what you want” through this weekend. Additionally, the label will match donations up to $5000, so it’s a good time empty out your piggy banks and help out in a tangible, non-Twitter way.

Run For Cover is no stranger to taking a stand against bullshit. Last year, they severed ties with San Francisco’s Whirr over transphobic tweets directed at now-defunct Olympia hardcore outfit G.L.O.S.S. The label continues to be an example of using their platform to support marginalized communities.
