'Fire Dance With Me' pits players as Special Agent Dale Cooper or Audrey Horne.

Fans of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks TV series have had a lot to chew on lately with the uncertain fate of the show’s continuation. It seems they’ve finally settled on an agreement with Showtime to return in 2016 (or the year after), but unfortunately this week saw the passing of actress Catherine E. Coulson (a.k.a. The Log Lady). In short, the timing couldn’t be better for a new Twin Peaks computer game. Less so for a mash-up with Dance Dance Revolution, but hey, why not?

Players of Fire Dance With Me enter the Black Lodge and cut a zigzagging rug as Special Agent Dale Cooper (complete with coffee mug) or Audrey Horne (with a nod to that scene). The best part might be Angelo Badalamenti’s classic theme song bumped up with some DDR-style beats, or the creepy cries of Leland Palmer.

This game was created for the Duplicade competition, which requires games to be head-to-head and Windows-compatible, use traditional WASD/arrow key movements, and have short durations. Its rules also state that the entries must “tread dangerously into the intellectual property of an existing game or game franchise, but be cleverly altered and culturally mangled enough to not be worth the effort to sue.”
