Brown's 2009 assault of Rihanna hasn't been forgiven down under.

Following similar steps taken for Tyler, the Creator, an Australian ban warning has now been issued to Chris Brown based on his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Michaelia Cash, the country’s recently appointed minister for women, is pushing for Brown to be investigated before he is allowed to perform at a series of scheduled shows. The issue was brought to the table following a petition from women’s rights group GetUp stating that a failure to ban Brown would “send the message that if you brutally beat a woman, in a short amount of time you will be forgiven, or even celebrated.” Gig posters in Melbourne have also been tagged with a scarlet sticker, as seen in the photo below:

Tyler, The Creator was never outright banned from Australia, but eventually cancelled his tour following protests in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The Odd Future founder has since been barred from entering the United Kingdom due to complaints over his lyrics, with his quoted reaction that he is “being treated like a terrorist.” Chris Brown has not yet commented on the Australian ban.
