A mini-documentary on the band is exhibited in the National Museum of American History.

Raining blood and reigning in the history books, thrash metal titans Slayer have now been immortalized by the Smithsonian.

As part of its ‘Places of Musical Innovation’ exhibit, the headbangers at the National Museum of American History have filmed a mini-doc on the band and their Bay Area metal sub-genre titled Slayer: The Origins of Thrash in San Francisco, CA.

In the six-minute clip filled with fantastic photos and posters, the original duo of hotheaded shredder Kerry King and vocal cord destroyer Tom Araya are joined by guitarist Gary Holt and drummer Paul Bostaph. They discuss early influences from Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, along with their motivation to become an “anti-L.A. band” in the heyday of hair metal. Somewhere the members of Ratt are angrily pacing the room.
