Gutterdammerung is billed as the loudest silent movie on earth.

Casting a shadow over the scorching onslaught of summer blockbusters, Gutterdämmerung has been announced as a “loud and dark fairy tale” in the form of a silent film with a live score and narrator. It features the heaviest cast of rock stars since Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees threw up the horns in Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Here’s a quick rundown of the roles you can expect to see in this black ‘n’ white barrage: Iggy Pop as a punk rock angel named Vicious. Henry Rollins (co-writer of the film’s script) as a puritan priest. Grace Jones “controlling the testosterone of the evil rock ‘n’ roll masses”, whatever that means. This first wave of confirmed cast members has now been bumped into truly nutsoid territory with Motörhead frontman/mole and moustache enthusiast Lemmy as a crazed general, plus Slayer’s Tom Araya leading the film’s band. Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes is also in the mix.

According to Blabbermouth, Gutterdämmerung takes place “in a world where God has saved the world from sin by taking from mankind the Devil’s ‘Grail of Sin’… the Evil Guitar. The Earth has now turned into a puritan world where there is no room for sex, drugs or rock ‘n’ roll.”

We’ll leave the last words to Lemmy: “If you don’t like it… fuck off!”
