Slash says the rekindled friendship was "probably way overdue."

In news that has Guns N’ Roses fans everywhere pulling out their copies of Use Your Illusion II and dreaming big stadium dreams, Slash confirmed that he and Axl Rose are now homies again after being estranged for nearly two decades.

While in Sweden to help promote the badass new Marshall London phone, Slash was interviewed by Aftonbladet TV. The interviewer, who has apparently been listening in on the guitarist’s phone calls, mentioned he “heard that [Slash] made friends with Axl Rose again.” Over the years, we’ve learned to expect a “I don’t know where you heard that, man (cigarette drag),” so it was pretty surprising when Slash replied with the following: “It was probably way overdue, you know. But it’s… you know, it’s very cool at this point.” He added that they can now “dispel some of that negative stuff that was going on for so long.”

Of course, the eager beaver interviewer immediately asked when we could expect a GnR reunion. The guitarist good-naturedly laughed it off at first, saying “Oh, I couldn’t answer that one,” but when pressed further, a less than amused Slash shut him down with a terse “All right, let’s get off the subject, ’cause, you know, that’s an old one.”

Watch the interview below:

C’mon, Interviewer Guy. To make this happen, we’re clearly going to have to be less needy and play hard to get. “Oh, they’re talking again? That’s nice. I mean, I wouldn’t mind if they played again, but you know, NBD either way.” [Be sure to stick hands in pockets at this point so they can’t see that you’re trembling with excitement.]

In celebration of Axl and Slash’s rekindled love, here’s one of GnR’s impossibly excessive early ’90s music videos with a title that no longer matches their relationship status.
