Back it up, Morocco.

Next time somebody tells you “there’s no such thing as being too sexy,” you should suggest they talk to Jennifer Lopez.

We swear we’re not making this up — a Moroccan educational group has filed a lawsuit against Lopez and a concert promoter that cites her May 29 performance at the Mawazine World Rhythms International Music Festival as “disturb[ing] public order and tarnish[ing] women’s honour and respect.” The singer’s performance, which was broadcast live on TV, has sent pretty much the whole country into an uproar. Even PM Abdelilah Benkirane has gotten involved, calling the broadcast “a serious delinquency” that contradicts the country’s moral and religious values.

Here’s the thing, though. J. Lo’s ability to shake her ample posterior much like a Polaroid picture is known worldwide, and she recently released a song titled “Booty” with a seriously NSFW video. So when state-owned TV channel 2M chose to broadcast her performance to their largely conservative Muslim audience, it’s sort of on them. Benkirane seems to agree and is totally throwing the station under the bus, calling for an investigation and eventual “legal action against those responsible” for the “disgraceful scenes.”

Oh, Morocco… you should have taken a page out of Toronto’s book and protested the performance before hand à la Action Bronson. Now, ol’ Jenny from the Block is facing up to two years in the slammer. Don’t they know she’s about to become the new Celine Dion of Las Vegas?? C’mon, people. Don’t deprive the gamblers of some J. Lo in their lives.
