It’s a tough gig, being Chris Brown. [ed note: looool.] Imagine being a widely-hated rapper who’s forever going to be known for beating up a beloved pop songstress, and who gives new meaning to the words ‘best single.’ It’d be tough, but tempered slightly by the fact that you still have a career, even if it makes the rest of us wonder what the hell is wrong with your Stockholm syndrome’d fanbase.

Anyway, if there’s one surefire way to claw back some respect from the larger the music world, it’s showing you’re ‘with it’ by inserting yourself into iconic images from hip-hop’s history. Or no, wait, that’s the kind of thing only tryhard lamewads would do. Chris Brown did just that last night when he posted a Photoshop of himself inserted into the well-known photo of Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight, taken just before Tupac was murdered.

The now-deleted post shows Mr. Brown chilling in the backseat in the now-iconic photo of Tupac riding shotgun in the car driven by Suge Knight, taken in Las Vegas in 1996. The post wasn’t accompanied by any text, so it’s a mystery what Brown was trying to say (smart money says “Please think I am cool.”). Though clearer heads prevailed and the post is now gone, you can still see the post here, through the magic of screenshots:

Though it’s not even likely that he or his team produced this legendary ‘Shop, I can just imagine Chris Brown struggling for hours with his entourage to get the lighting and angles just right in Photoshop. “DUDE, WHY IS TRANSFORM NOT WORKING!? Chill, you gotta de-select the layer, I TOLD YOU BEFORE!” If you’re sure Photoshopping yourself into assassinations is the way to go, Tupac’s fine and everything, but why not go whole hog:

You’re welcome Chris. Please remember to credit me on your Instagram.
