Deftones singer Chino Moreno appeared on BBC1’s Rock Show this weekend, and during an interview he announced that Deftones are set to release a new album in September.

Moreno initially—and likely in a way of ressuring fans or downplaying the torture that is talking about the creative process—says it’s “just another Deftones album,” before elaborating that, especially as compared to their last album, it’ll be much “headier.” “I feel like it’s us reaching a little bit, getting more into the song structures and trying to challenge ourselves a little bit, you know what I mean? It’s sounding good. I think it’s gonna be a great record.”

It’s likely that they’ll be testing some of the material on the road this summer—they’ll hit the road with Incubus and Death From Above 1979—and, of course, it’ll be all classics at their Amnesia Rockfest appearance in Quebec, where they’ll perform Around The Fur in its entirety. “It might be a little bit of a challenge,” Moreno says of the 1997 album set. “There’s some songs on that record that we haven’t played for years. We’ve yet to really rehearse for that. That was before I started playing guitar too, so it’s just, like, all I gotta do is go out there and sing for, like, 45 minutes. It should be pretty easy, but who’s to say?”
